Corporate Responsibility

Packaging
We seek to minimise the amount of packaging used to store and transport products to our customers. All the boxes we use are produced using the highest % of recycled material possible.

Heat Generation
The heat generated by the air compressor used for packaging, is used to heat Miko Belgium's offices during the winter months. This saves more than 20,000L of gasoline a year.

Exhaust Fumes
Exhaust fumes generated from the roasting process are showered by a closed loop water system. Bacteria within this water helps to breakdown the content. 95% of all odours and solid particles are removed.

Coffee Sacks
Most coffee companies ship green beans in 60-70kg burlap sacks, we have started to use one giant sack that holds 20,000 - 22,000 kg's. This giant sack is then shipped back with the container and reused for our next shipment.

Coffee Chaff
Definition: Pieces of the innermost skin of the cherry that clings to the green coffee after processing. This skin comes loose in the roaster. We sell the coffee chaff to local organic farmers as compost.

Office Waste
Like most offices we do our fair share of paperwork. Wherever possible, all waste is recycled. We have 3 different colour bins situated within the offices and production halls.
